AustSafe Super supporting next generation of Australian farming

AustSafe Super has continued to demonstrate its commitment to rural and regional Australia with the industry super fund co-sponsoring an agriculture bursary in conjunction with the Future Farmers Network.

Valued at $2,000, the bursary is designed to provide financial support to a young Future Farmers Network member, with the recipient announced as budding fourth generation farmer, Emily Webb Ware. Based on a sheep and cattle property near Yeo, Victoria, Webb Ware used the funding to attend the recent ABARES Outlook Conference.

AustSafe Super’s regional manager for Victoria, Michael Wynne, said the Fund is particularly proud to be co-sponsoring the bursary as it ultimately assists in keeping young farmers in the regions.

“The bursary is a practical means of young people committing to a life on the land and giving them the tools and resources to improve their knowledge of agricultural techniques and broaden their network.

“AustSafe Super extends our warmest congratulations to Emily – she’s a worthy recipient of the bursary and as a local girl, we’re very excited to see where her farming life takes her,” he said.

According to Future Farmers Network executive officer, Toby Locke, partnering with the likes of AustSafe Super is critical in helping to raise awareness of issues in the agriculture sector.

“The capacity for us to be of value to our membership is really contingent on the financial support of our sponsors, and we’re thrilled to have partnered with AustSafe Super in administering this bursary. It’s testament to the Fund’s backing of regional Australia and in shoring up the pipeline of up-and-coming Aussie farmers,” he said.
